How Much Does Website Design Cost in Dubai?
What drives website design cost in Dubai, how to brief for an accurate quote, how to compare quotes like-for-like, and which ongoing costs to ask about.
By Web Designers Dubai
The honest answer is that it depends on what your website needs to do. Two projects both described as “a five-page website” can involve very different amounts of work once you factor in the design approach, content, features and languages. So rather than quoting a figure that may not apply to you, this guide explains what drives the cost, how to brief for an accurate quote and how to compare quotes fairly.
Why there’s no single price for “a website”
A website is a bundle of separate pieces of work: planning, design, content, development, testing, setup and ongoing care. Each quote you receive includes a different mix of those pieces, done to a different standard. That’s why quotes for what sounds like the same project can vary so much, and why the headline figure on its own tells you very little.
What drives the cost
Number and type of pages
More pages usually mean more work, but the type of page matters more than the count. A set of service pages that share one layout is quicker to produce than ten pages that each need a unique design. Pages with complex elements, such as project galleries, team directories or comparison tables, take longer than simple text pages.
Custom design or a template
A template or pre-built theme gives you a starting point. It can work for a straightforward site, though you’ll be fitting your content into someone else’s layout. A custom design starts from your business, your audience and your brand, with each page designed for its purpose. That takes more design time, and it usually gives you a site that’s easier to tell apart from your competitors.
Content and copywriting
Content is often the most underestimated part of a website project. Ask yourself:
- Who is writing the page text, and is it ready?
- Do you have good photographs of your work, team or premises, or will you need a shoot or licensed images?
- Does existing content need rewriting, or moving across from an old site?
If the designer is writing or editing your copy, that’s a separate piece of work and should be listed in the quote.
Features and integrations
Each feature adds design, development and testing time. Common ones for Dubai businesses include:
- Booking or appointment systems
- Property listings or project filters
- Connections to a CRM or email marketing tool
- Quote request flows or multi-step forms
- Client or member login areas
- Live chat and click-to-WhatsApp
Connecting an existing tool is generally quicker than building something from scratch, but the tool may come with its own subscription.
eCommerce
An online shop involves far more than product pages. The cost is affected by the number of products and variants, payment gateway setup, delivery options across the emirates, returns, stock management and how prices including VAT are shown. If you’re planning a shop, read our eCommerce requirements guide and see our eCommerce website development service.
Arabic and English
A bilingual website isn’t a translation added at the end. Arabic needs a right-to-left layout, suitable fonts and design checks on every page so nothing breaks when the reading direction flips. You’ll also need proper translation rather than raw machine output, a language switcher that leads to the matching page, and SEO setup for both languages. From then on, every content update needs making twice.
CMS and editing
If your team will update the site often, the editing experience needs to be planned and built. Structured content fields, reusable sections and training all take time, but they save you paying for small changes later.
SEO setup
Basic on-page SEO, such as page titles, meta descriptions, headings, image optimisation, a sitemap and redirects from old URLs, should be part of any professional build. Ongoing SEO, such as keyword research, content and local search, is a separate service. Check where one ends and the other begins in each quote.
Hosting, maintenance and licences
These are the ongoing costs that sit outside the build:
- Domain renewal
- Hosting, which varies with the platform and level of service
- Business email, if it isn’t already set up
- Premium theme, plugin or font licences, which are often renewed yearly
- Third-party subscriptions such as booking tools or chat widgets
- A maintenance plan for updates, backups and small changes
How to brief for an accurate quote
The more specific your brief, the more accurate and comparable your quotes will be. Use this checklist:
- What the website needs to achieve (enquiries, bookings, sales, credibility)
- Who your main customers are and which languages they use
- A rough list of pages
- Must-have features, with nice-to-haves listed separately
- Whether content and images are ready or need creating
- Two or three websites you like, and what you like about them
- Who will update the site after launch
- Your existing domain, hosting and any platform you’re tied to
- Any date that matters, such as a launch event
- A budget range you’re comfortable with
Sharing a budget range can feel like giving away your negotiating position. In practice, it lets a designer tell you what’s realistic and which features to prioritise, instead of guessing.
Comparing quotes like-for-like
When quotes arrive, put them side by side and check each one against the same points.
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Pages designed and built | “Up to ten pages” may mean two designed layouts and eight copies |
| Custom design or template | Affects how distinctive and flexible the site will be |
| Revision rounds | Extra rounds are often charged separately |
| Content, copywriting and images | Often excluded unless stated |
| Languages | Is the second language fully designed and set up for search, or just translated text? |
| SEO basics | Titles, descriptions, sitemap and redirects should be listed |
| Hosting and domain | Included or not, for how long, and in whose name |
| Licences | Which paid themes, plugins or fonts are used, and who pays for renewals |
| Support after launch | What’s included, for how long, and how changes are charged afterwards |
| VAT | If the supplier is VAT-registered, whether the 5% UAE VAT is included or added on top |
| Ownership | Whether you’ll own the domain, content, admin access and design files |
If a quote is vague on any of these, ask before you decide. A clear answer in writing is worth more than a lower headline figure.
Hidden and ongoing costs to ask about
Most “hidden” costs aren’t hidden on purpose; they simply weren’t discussed. Ask about:
- Hosting and licence renewals after the first year
- How changes outside the agreed scope are charged
- Moving content and images from your old website
- Translation of future updates into a second language
- Stock photography and font licences
- Ongoing fees for third-party tools built into the site
Why the cheapest quote can cost more
A low quote isn’t automatically a bad one, and a high quote isn’t automatically good. But very low quotes often save time in ways you notice later: a template with your logo dropped in, little testing on phones, no SEO basics, or a site your team can’t easily edit.
Those savings tend to come back as costs. You pay for small changes you could have made yourself. You pay to fix speed or mobile problems. Sometimes you pay for a rebuild sooner than planned, which means paying for the same website twice. And if the domain was registered in someone else’s name, getting it back takes time you’d rather spend on your business.
The better question isn’t “which quote is cheapest?” but “which quote clearly covers what we need, from someone we trust to deliver it?” Our guide on how to choose a web designer in Dubai covers the second half of that question.
How we quote
Our packages are quote-based because every project is different, and quotes are free. We’ll ask about your goals, pages, features and content, then send a written scope so you can see exactly what’s included and what isn’t.
